2024 SEOTY Winners

Meet Tre Turner!

Tre is a senior and serves as the Executive Team Lead for the Communications and Internal Affairs Team of University Programs.

Hired in 2020 during the height of the pandemic, Tre immediately saw the necessity for meaningful engagement experiences on campus. During his time with University Programs, he has been a part of the planning process for over 460 events for UA students. This directly correlates to helping enhance our university community.

In a time when connection and belonging are invaluable to students, he ensures they have a space. He even launched an internal and external campaign to brand our department as an “All are welcome here” space on campus. This is present both in our physical space, digital community, and at UP events.

Tre has continually progressed as a leader through a variety of roles. He started as a first-year student and has maintained his employment with University Programs throughout the entirety of his time at UA. This shows his ability to not only serve as a leader, but he has also trained other students to succeed.

Through his role as the communications team lead, Tre has grown the UP digital presence by 200%. He connected with Strategic Communications, the Division of Student Life communications team, and many other campus partners to seek ways to grow the brand and online presence of University Programs.

He was instrumental in launching Engagement Pods, small groups for UA students to still connect and find a place on campus. This program has continued throughout his tenure and through his encouragement and will continue to provide innovative experiences.

Congratulations Tre, The University of Alabama’s Student Employee of the Year.
